About Us
Mission Statement:

Cooper Mercer Institute is a non-profit foundation founded for the community in order to combat health care disparities and to promote preventative medicine and healthy lifestyles within our underserved population.
Cooper Mercer Institute was created by Dr. Patricia Cooper and Dr. Angela Mercer in April 2002. The organization was developed by the two doctors because of their desire to improve the quality of life for their patients. Over the years, the organization has evolved to include, not only programs that address healthy lifestyles within the adult population but as well as younger people and children.
CMI has helped produce exciting programs that address health and health disparities with in the African American community. The programs have included topics such as screening for prostate cancer, teaching young ladies about healthy lifestyles and support group for women living with HIV.

CMI has partnered with other organizations that embrace similar goals and ambitions on multiple occasions. Some of those partners have included The Friends of Hampton Roads, Delta Sigma Theta, Norfolk Community Health Center, Jack and Jill of America and FOHTA to name a few.
